Family Foundations

There is no feeling like being a part of a family. They are the people who know you best. They have seen you at your lowest point and at your highest. Your family knows all your secrets. They can lift you up or tear you down. Therefore, they are an early motivation for some gang leaders.

For example, Vito Corleone, the Don from The Godfather, was forced into gang life. After losing his job in the grocery store due to nepotism. He was left with four mouths to feed, and no way to make money in this country that didn't want to accept him. Therefore, when the opportunity to make some money, even though illegally, he took

the chance. Leading to his family as it grows and gains more traction to become the head and foundation of their gang. This allows them to maintain high loyalty and unity in their decisions. Making them a gang that can not be separated.

Similarly, in The Great Gatsby, everything Jay Gatsby does is for his love, Daisy. By working toward a possible family, Gatsby built his fortune. His empire was built on the idea that, with all this money, he would have a great family.

Family is the know-all, see-all. It is also the driving force behind most of the decisions we make as people. Therefore, they are the foundations of our lives and, possibly, of our criminal enterprises. Making family the most important thing we can have. So, keep your family near; they know where all the bodies are buried.
