Gangsters and Government

Every day across the United States we hear about police corruption or a politician whose pockets seem to deep. We think to ourselves, these are the people who are supposed to be the most moral and upstanding citizens. Yet, they have taken their power for granted and use it to make their lives better, when they should be keeping the American people safe.
Dirty politicians are the worst kind of people. We elect them to make laws that they write holes in so they can exploit them. For example, the Ohio Gang was a group of politicians during Warren G. Harding's presidency. The Ohio Gang was basically a good ol' boys' club within the presidential cabinet. They used

their power to take bribes to influence policy. A secondary example of politicians' involvement with gangsters is the Tammany Hall scandal. In Tammany Hall, the top politicians are paying gangsters to do their dirty work for them. Basically, making the Five Points area of New York into a marshal state with Bill the Butcher in charge. With this connection, Tammany Hall also employed gangsters to intimidate voters at the polls, to allow them to win the elections at the time.
Gangsters have connections everywhere, even to the policies meant to rule the righteous. Politicians are gangsters if not worse than gangsters. Gangsters never hide who they are at heart, whereas you never know what you're going to get with a politician.
